GIFT CARDS - GETTING STARTED

1. Buy-In to the Vision of the Program

  • Tuition rebate program (private schools tie the individual family fundraising to
    reducing their individual family tuitions)
  • Create specific goals for the school or the organization
  • Individual class or team keeps a large percentage of their own earnings (i.e. 50%)
  • 2. Establish a Program Coordinator

  • Program Coordinator recruits volunteers (1 to 2 volunteers for most programs)
  • Program Coordinator oversees the ordering process
  • Program Coordinator becomes the program expert
  • 3. Program Options

  • Order forms or envelopes used to place orders

  • Hold Inventory (most successful, but most volunteer hours required), Pre-Order Only or Both

  • Weekly, Bi-Weekly or Monthly (We strongly recommend bi-weekly to help families budget between pay cheques)

  • Cheque only or credit card and debit card (remember the transaction fees, but some families like to earn air miles/rewards with their credit cards). Progressive Fundraising only accepts cheques or web banking at this time.

  • Orders picked up by families or delivered to their homes

  • Establish all policies and procedures

    4. Introduction and Promotion

  • Introductory letter sent home to families

  • Introductory Meeting

  • Phone tree through class/team parent (very important) right after introductory letter and/or introductory meeting (Personal verbal communication is the key to a successful launch of the program)

  • Promotional materials (printed and / or electronic newsletter, website, email advertisements, etc)

  • Presence at all community events

  • Contests, rewards and success stories

    5. Set a Start Date and Go!
